My pieces are hand-thrown using a red earthenware clay.
That beautiful red clay is extrated from quarries in Salernes (Provence). It is usually used for traditional terracotta floor tiles.
The decoration is applied as a thin wash, using colorants and oxydes dissolved in a white slip.
I draw my designs directly on a pot using different brushes and i engrave the outlines with a sharp bamboo tool .
This is followed by two firings. First firing at 980°C, the second one at 1100°C after glazing the pieces in a transparent leadless glaze.
The coloured décoration is empathised by the smooth shiny glazed surface.
